Web / Peer-to-Peer (P2P) based Secure Video Streaming Services (網頁/同儕基礎之視訊加密串流服務)

According to the Cisco report and analysis, over 80% Internet traffic would be online video traffic. As the growth of over-the-top (OTT) services, e.g., Youtube & Netflix, people enjoy video streaming services using the web platform. That is, a user can open his/her browser and receive real-time and ultra-high-quality video service without pre-installed any specified plugin. Two famous adaptive web streaming standards are (1) MPEG Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP (MPEG-DASH) and (2) Apple HTTP Live Streaming (HLS). In order to increase and improve the quality of service (QoS) and quality of experience (QoE), content delivery network (CDN) is proposed and widely utilized for global video streaming. Based on the aforementioned assumption, NESL would focus on (i) the extension of peer to peer (P2P) to increase the available transmission bandwidth and (ii) the integration of network coding techniques, e.g., rapterQ code or random linear network coding (RLNC), to overcome the unstable network conditions.

 

根據思科公司的報告和分析,80%以上的網際網路流量都是線上視訊。隨著Youtube和Netflix等Over-the-Top (OTT)服務的發展,人們開始利用網頁平臺享受視訊串流服務。也就是說,用戶無需預先安裝特定外掛程式,打開流覽器即可接收即時、超高品質的視頻服務。兩個著名的自適應網頁串流標準是:(1) MPEG Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP (MPEG-DASH)和(2) Apple HTTP Live Streaming (HLS)。為了提高和改善服務品質(QoS)和體驗品質(QoE),內容傳遞網路(CDN)被提出並廣泛應用於全球視訊串流。基於上述假設,本實驗室(NESL)將重點關注:(i)同儕網路(P2P)的擴展,以增加可用傳輸頻寬;(ii)網路編碼技術的整合,如 RapterQ編碼或隨機線性網路編碼(RLNC),以克服不穩定的網路條件。
