In this project, we develop frequency-coded chipless RFID systems including 8-bit chipless tags and reader architecture. The chipless tag is constructed using half-wave slot-line resonators, and the reader consists of a vector network analyzer and two broadband monopole antennas. We also develop a reading algorithm, implemented both in simulation and measurement. The simulated results depict that information encoded in the chipless tags can be detected. The RCS turns into the information about the bit string. In addition, the measured results in terms of scattering parameters show the data encoded as the separation between the reader and the tag is short. This work depicts that the potential of chipless RFID in library environments.
