In this project, we propose a novel smart clothing to continually monitor the psychological and physical health. This smart clothing integrates a heart-rate module, a body-composition module, a temperature module, and a mental-monitoring module into a powerful wearable application. The four modules are established on the different positions of a polo shirt; each module is connected to a textile antenna, and the antenna transmits the data of health conditions to a smart phone. Therefore, the health conditions of a user can be continuously monitored.
The novelty of this smart clothing is threefold. First, the antenna of the Bluetooth module is fabricated by textiles, instead of printed circuit boards (PCBs), which are not convenient for the environment of clothing. Second, while a variety of wearable devices focus on monitoring the fitness conditions of human body, none of them keep track of mental health such as anger, depression, and tenseness. In this project, we use electro cardio signal to continuously monitor the mental condition of an user. Third, for the first time a body-composition module is integrated into the smart clothing application. We use body-composition detectors mounted on the sleeves; by touching the two sensors simultaneously, the impedance of tissue, which is closely related to the composition of water and fat, is thus determined.
